On the afternoon of September 7th, Huanggang Dabieshan UGGp signed the Sistership Geopark Agreement with Funiushan UGGp at the Multi-functional Hall of Huanggang Dabieshan Global Geopark Museum, which is aimed at promoting the communication and cooperation between these two UNESCO Global geoparks to discuss how to strengthen the protection, construction and scientific research of parks so that sustainable development is realized.
Gao Zhifeng, director of Huanggang Dabieshan Geopark Administration, extended a warm welcome to Wang Yazhe, director of Nanyang Fniushan Geopark Administration and her team of 15 people, and introduced Huanggang Dabieshan UGGp in detail. At the symposium, Wang Yazhe, director of Funiushan Geopark Administration, shared their experience in the revalidation process of FuniushanUGGp from four aspects, including general situation of the park, main work during the application of park expansion and revalidation, summary of park expansionand revalidation in 2018, and existing problems.
The successful completion of the signing ceremony is another boost for Huanggang Dabieshan UGGp to prepare for its first UNESCO revalidation in 2021. Next, the two parks will expand the fields of communication and cooperation, share resources and promote the scientific management and sustainable development of protected areas.
